臨床心理学社の河合隼雄氏は、「正しいことばっかりしかゆわなくなったとき、人間は一番アブナイ」という。カウンセラーとして面談して、相手の話をじっと聞き、最後に、「あなたのおっしゃることは全部正しいです。まちがっていることがあるとしたら、たった一つ。あなたが正しいことしかゆわんようになっているということです」というケース──しかも、こういうケースこそが「重症」なのだという──がきわめて多いそうである。
